Women’s Protection and Security

Women’s Protection and Security have always been a grave concern of the Basirhat Initiative for Rural Dedication. Here we are committed to providing utmost security and empowering women in remote rural areas who face challenges such as domestic violence, human trafficking, extortion, and physical abuse. Our mission is to support vulnerable women by providing rescue, mental and emotional support, and a chance for a better life. With a dedicated team of over 50 women, we work collaboratively to improve the lives of women in our community, ensuring they have the support they need to thrive.

Women Health

At BIRD, we prioritize women’s health by organizing awareness programs in rural communities. Our focus areas include personal hygiene, menstrual health, and obstetric-related diseases. We also distribute free sanitary pads to educate women on their use, promoting healthier practices for a disease-free life. All these initiatives aim to empower women to adopt lifelong healthy habits, improving their well-being and fostering healthier communities.

Legal support

By empowering these women with the resources they need, we strive to ensure they receive the fair and proper justice they deserve.

Awareness of Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is a critical issue in rural Bengal, where vulnerable women and children are mostly targeted. At BIRD, we combat trafficking through community awareness, education, and close collaboration with local administrations. Visiting villages, schools, and colleges, we educate adolescents and communities about the dangers and impacts of human trafficking. Our efforts extend to rescuing victims, providing free legal support, and helping them reintegrate into society. We also inform them about government schemes that offer support, empowering communities to reduce trafficking and protect the vulnerable.

Women Employment

We prioritize financial self-dependency among women, especially those from underserved backgrounds and those we have rescued. We provide skill development training to empower them to become financially self-reliant. Our support includes comprehensive guidance for entrepreneurship, helping women to build and sustain their own businesses. For their business endeavours, we also have formed SHGs through which they can avail loans with low interest.  Our goal is to enable women to earn their own resources, fostering independence and improving their overall quality of life.
